What a day! After seeing a showcase by Mike Rosenthal (see below) at "Cheapo Records" store, on the late afternoon we went straight to the Antone's were there was the Americana Music Association Party. Free beers, americana music and lots of fun. By the way, "Americana" is a music-style that mixes rock, country, bluegrass, blues and everything in between.
On stage we had the chance to see and hear: Kevin Gordon, Jon Langford, Lonesome Bob, Sally Timms, and Tommy Womack, with supreme backing from Steve Goulding (drums), Scott Esbeck (bass), and Pete Finney (steel-guitar). We had really a good time and when Lonesome Bob came off the stage, we took a picture with him.
But now comes the best part. While we were listening to the music, my brother Fernando asks me to fill out the form for the contest, to get the chance to win one of the two Gibson guitars. I turned out that I won a "Gibson 1967 Replica Flying V" guitar! The funny thing about it is that I can't play it, but maybe someone up there wants me to learn it.
Later that night we went back to the Antone's to see Jack Ingram, who did an incredible show, Caitlin Cary (former Whiskeytown), and the Drive-by-Truckers. Unfortunatelly I don't have pictures of these last three shows because the security didn't let us take pictures.

Mike Rosenthal & Band live at the Cheapo Records Store
Thu. March 14, 2002, 4PM.

Mike Rosenthal & Band
I didn't knew anything about Mike Rosenthal before we entered the "Cheapo Records" store. After listening him, I went to buy his cd and got it signed by him and his band members. We talked a little bit and like many others, they were surprised to know that three Italians went to Austin just for the festival. I'm sorry but this is the only almost-good picture that I shot (I think I will buy my brother a new camera).
